Monday, 8/28- Welcome to 7ELA1. Choose your seat & attendance
2. Procedures: In seat BEFORE bell, Agenda, Grammar, Email 3. Our class philosophy- We are all about becoming better THINKERS, READERS, WRITERS, SPEAKERS, and PEOPLE. 4. Jumping right in- introduce yourself to your seat partner (shake hands, make eye contact, smile). 5. Nonfiction article first read- marks what surprises you second read- go back to the marks you made and write a complete sentence to explain your thinking. Use sentence stems (see the anchor chart) Now- have a conversation discussing what surprised you. Your job is to work on being an active listener. You will need to paraphrase what your partner said. Paraphrasing means that you can explain the gist of something but in your own words. 6. Supplies for this class: 2 composition notebooks, pens, pencils, and EITHER a three-ring binder and tab dividers OR a few pocket folders. |
